Anyone else out there recall the run days of being under 21 and getting toasted at the Thirsty Whale?? Those were some good times, and the music wasn't half bad either.
The Thirsty Whale Remembered..... recall the good times before they turned the place into just another ugly Gas station/fast food place.
Cheese Pizza Tavern Tour... (I'll admit, the first time I saw it on a club listing I thought it was a typo). While every other ex-Chi-town band was rushing to wash the makeup off, ex-Nikki Foxx singer Lee went and put a whole lot on (with some heels and a dress) and got involved in the band. Haven't yet taken a road trip to see them, but I've got a friend with good taste in music and she's a devoted follower of CPTT.
Pivot Man... ex Daisy Chain/Mind Bomb frontman Bobby Stratosphere..."Basil" 's newest project. Damn, I used to love that man......
In a nice transition... ex-Mind Bomb geetar player/current Z'Nuff hired gun geetarist (also now doing a kick ass job as lead EZN vocals) John Monaco has a site.. Some short music clips on the site... but Monaco is just too cute to make bad music.
Also ex-Z'nuff.... looks like former "better looking than a beauty queen" Vikki Foxx was band-bouncing around LA for awhile, last working on a project with Derek Frigo before his death (what? See THIS for more info). No idea what he's doing now.
Former Brat! drummer and cutest thing behind a drumset EVER Troy Patrick Farrell has been doing various gigs around L.A., working with other local boy George Adrian on occassion. Haven't seen him on the back of a CD yet, but Troy's been getting a lot of touring work.
See if you can even recognize him.... former Brat! bassist Holly WAS in a band called Cartoon Boyfriend, some great stuff, but they appear to have split awhile ago. I got their CD off Amazon.com and I swear, I have to pop it in for at least one tune daily! Good stuff.
Again going along with the Brat! theme.... you can check out Troy's bro in the band Monkey Cocktail with former Sgt. Roxx frontman, Jack Adams and a couple guys I don't recognize.
BLOWN. It's um.... well... "different" than any band I've seen these guys in before.....
UPDATE: Old us old scene people mourn a loss.... Brian Masterson died on Dec. 31, 2002, after a fight with leukemia. The scene will just NEVER be the same without him. He was one of those guys you wouldn't see for months of years, but you could pick up right where ya saw him last. Raise a Frisco Melt to the fallen. http://www.blownmusic.com/site/brian.html
SPHINX was always a fave... Nick & George are in a band called Left Setter. I'm guessing Nick isn't walking around with a scrunchie on his wrist anymore....
Former Hope=Trublood singer Mike's got (or had) a band going called Tripsic for awhile (sorry I flaked on ya dude and never threw together a webpage). Still got some good pipes.
Eye II Eye.... remember that? Talk about a blast from the past.
And speaking of blasts from the past.... Chicago Rocker.
